McMahon & Mann Consulting Engineers, P.C. (MMCE) worked with Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) to design an interim slope stabilization plan for a failed slope along a section of County Road No. 4 (Broadway Road), located in the Town of Persia, New York.

On or about January 10, 2000, several thousand cubic yards of soil along the edge of the roadway slid downhill. The landslide did not affect the road however, a quick response was necessary to preclude impacts to the roadway.

 MMCE and GPI developed an interim plan to stabilize the slope. The interim plan includes:

•  Flattening a portion of the slope,
•  Installing trench drains to provide a drainage path to sand deposits in the hillside, and
•  Construction of a gravel buttress to provide additional support at the base of the slope.
