Underground Environmental Remediation
MMCE's engineers have been retained in a number of projects involving remediation and containment of soil and groundwater contaminated with petroleum products, PCBs, volatile organic compounds and nuclear wastes. Some of the most visible of those projects include work at the West Valley Demonstration Project, the Occidental Chemical Company "S-Area" along the Robert Moses Parkway in Niagara Falls, and at St. Bonaventure University near Olean, New York.
Among the many technical papers prepared by MMCE's engineers are a number that deal with hazardous waste management and containment of contaminated groundwater. The firm's experience includes groundwater pump and treat systems, passive groundwater collection systems, soil removal and replacement, bioremediation, soil venting and design of groundwater barrier walls and caps.
