McMahon & Mann worked with the project designer, Parsons Engineering Science and the landscape architect, Trowbridge & Wolf and prepared plans and specifications for this retaining wall along Ellicott Creek. The project is located near the junction with the Erie Canal in an area that the City of Tonawanda is developing and improving as part of efforts to revitalize the Canal and adjacent areas.

McMahon & Mann retained a contractor to drill borings along the existing wall to evaluate the subsurface conditions for design of the new wall. Based on this subsurface data, we developed design plans for the new wall. We prepared design drawings for the wall and specifications for the portions of the project related to the wall construction.

The design included a sheetpile wall with tieback rods anchored to steel reaction piles set back into the existing slope. The design also included concrete panel units that can be added to improve the asthetics of the facing in the future depending on budgetary constraints. Design and construction work associated with this project were completed in 2002.
